Rating System

The kind of books I am really into at this point of my life are books that contain reliable feminist characters (especially if they are female protagonists) who have both positive and negative aspects to them. Basically characters who are real and relatable. This rating system helps me compartmentalize my opinions and gives readers an idea of my feelings of a particular book.

5 out of 5 stars. I absolutely LOVED this book! I want to cuddle with the characters and lick the plot (okay maybe not lick it but just do SOMETHING to it). This book is by no means perfect, because I believe no book ever is. But it's pretty darn close. Marvelous execution of writing, plot and characters... and then some! Would recommend it to anyone without hesitation.

4 out of 5 stars. I loved this book! Well-written and contained gripping moments. The characters were easy to fall in love with and could hold their own as individuals. Minimal problems with the plot that does not affect the overall story. However, it's missing a little something that would make me wrap the whole book with big, glittery red bow. Would recommend it to most.

3 out of 5 stars. This book was okay. Interesting plot and characters. There were several issues with the writing or execution, and I was side-eyeing certain parts. But overall, the strengths outweighed the weaknesses. Would recommend it to specific people that I think would enjoy the book.

2 out of 5 stars. Did not really like this book. The plot and characters had potential, but there were many issues with the writing or execution. Side-eyeing became eye-rolling. Its weaknesses overpowered its strength. Took effort to finish this book. Would not recommend but would not take it away from anyone.

1 out of 5 stars. Ughh the agony that is this book. Horrible concept, dreadful writing, overly-passive characters with no individuality. Eye-rolled at almost every page. Did not finish this book. Would not recommend. Would discourage people from reading it.

0 out of 5 stars. How about, NOPE.
